Unbelievably beautiful

It's wonderful beyond words to think that someone loves libraries enough to create these incredible paper sculpture gifts. The NPR story of November 30, 2011 is by my fav, Robert Krulwich.

Mini Stat Shot

This is cool - Anatomy of a Librarian - has some pertinent facts about composition of the profession and fairly embarrassing salary comparisons.

Law and Disorder blog

Good name - Law and Disorder, "tech law and policy in the digital age". Wish I understood all the tech issues better.

Jet lag

Ugh. Combined with a cold, it's not pleasant.

Back to work!

Well, I did remember my password to the computer after almost 2 weeks away, so I got that goin' for me. Someone actually noticed the blog I've been doing at work so maybe I should take it seriously again. For that one guy...

So, let's see. Something about the Boston OWS protests (it's a long story) reminded me of a cool little site that has library related comics, t-shirts etc. Check out Unshelved why doncha?

FDLPC

Federal Depository Library Program Conference, that is. I have not been able to attend for several years, but need to get back into things. Saw a lot of people from the past and met a few new ones. It sounds like GPO has good plans for making Cong Rec, Stats at Large and other valuable historical materials available in digital form. People really need to have access from a reliable government site without having to purchase from a commercial source. This newsletter, FDLP Connection is a good place to get the full scoop

oh noes!

If anyone happens to look at my new travel blog and sees this moldy thing, I'll be embarrassed at how long it's been since updating. So, I may try to add things every week or so.
